ICD-10 Scope of Services

Regional hospital group or individual site

 

Phase 1 – Initial Education, non-HIM and HIM work sessions, Sr Coder Train the Trainer practicum

3 days onsite with up to 3 facilities with a total of 12 sr. coders or any combination with the 12 coder limit for training.

Cost to be divided between the 3 sites held at a regional location.

Cost will include travel costs for the 2 consultant /trainers

Timeline for Phase 1: 4th Q 2011- 2nd Q 2012.

Phase 2: 3rd Q 2012-go live

Day 1

Unlimited attendees

8:30-11:30 Class:
Preparing for ICD-10

 

Attendees: Sr coding staff, PFS leadership, HIM leadership, IT, others as identified (no limit to attendees)

Lunch break – on their own

 

1:00-4:00 p.m.

Two work groups to identify challenges and barriers from the class:

  • HIM Sr staff = Karen Kvarfordt, RHIA
  • Non-HIM Sr staff = Day Egusquiza

Day 2

12 Sr coding staff

8:00-4:00 p.m.

Coder Train the trainer – practicum with coding staff – all coders (limit to 12)

Each attendee will need ICD software on their laptop. The ICD-10 manual will also be helpful, but not required.

Actual pt cases will be coded – ER, surgery, ancillary, Inpt, OBS.

Day 3

 

8:00-11:00 am

Coder Train the Trainer – inpt only as additional ICD 10 procedure work is required.

11:30-12:30 p.m.

Final wrap up work session. Next Steps, continued development of rollout, etc.

 

 Phase 2

Additional services may be required in the facility’s implementation. Services may be contracted on an individual site basis. By early 2012 to go live.
